London, Ontario, SMD event a success!!

Thank you to Eileen Parker and Mary Lou Greenwood and everyone from their group
in London, Ontario, for making Shirley Blair's presentation a rousing success.
She presented slides at the Church of St. Jude and
at London Hunt and Country Club


They raised over $7200 for Vajra Vidya Foundation.

The event was to support the effort to train graduates of SMD Boarding School to get teacher-training
and then to return to their remote villages to set up and operate schools.

'sPlat - Australian children's musical in capital -Ambassador comes to SMD

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: The Australian production company, The Style Group, is in the capital to launch “‘sPlat” – an Australian children’s musical. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Australia, the musical production is touring the country with the collaborative efforts of The Style Group and Shree Mangal Dvip (SMD) Boarding School in Boudha, Kathmandu.

Load-shedding in Nepal = no electricity

Power cut up by one hour    
REPUBLICA
KATHMANDU, Jan 14: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to increase load-shedding by one hour with effect from Sunday.
There will be 12 hours of power cut every day from Sunday onward.
According to the Load Dispatch Center (LDC) of the NEA, the load-shedding time has been increased as water levels in most of the rivers have gone down.

Shirley Blair, director of SMD Boarding School in Kathmandu, will be in London, Ontario, on Wednesday, January 26.  After that she goes to Halifax, NS, for a presentation at the Shambhala Centre on Sunday, January 30 and then will be at Thrangu Monastery in Richmond, BC, on February 6. Shirley has lived in Nepal for 14 years overseeing the improvements at SMD in academics, health and safety, and technology.
