Mike and Chantal took a trip to Nepal to visit with their SMD student, Karma Chungda Lama who just arrived in Kathmandu from Nar in the far northwest Himalayas. Her home village is terribly poor - no school, no running water, no health clinic. Karma is so grateful to be at SMD and see her Canadian sponsors.
Thank you to Mike and Chantal for giving heaps of opportunities to a smart, little girl who will help her village and family in the future.
Last week two children in Edmonton spearheaded a campaign to raise funds through their elementary schools to fund education for the Himalayan children in Tsum, far away in the mountains of Nepal. They raised over $300!

Karma Dolma Gurung just finished her year of studies at St. Mary's University in Halifax, NS. She is preparing to buckle down to summer classes and two part-time jobs!! She is so dedicated to getting her degree!
