Thrangu Tara Abbey is a monastery for Buddhist nuns in Swayambunath on the outskirts of Kathmandu.

The Thrangu Clinic (Menla-Thrangu Mentsi Khang)

SMD Branch School
"has more than 70 students and 12 monk teachers; it runs from first grade through ninth grade. Occasionally volunteers come from abroad to teach. In addition to formal study, we are also concerned about taking care of the environment: Each week the members of the Thrangu Environment Club clean the monastery grounds."

Vajra Vidya Institute in Sarnath near Varanasi, India, was finished in the fall of 1999. An institute of Buddhist studies, the university is currently training more than 70 ordained monks and nuns in Buddhist Philosophy in general and in the teachings of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in particular so that they may become Buddhist teachers. They are following the five-year program with the resident Khenpos (accredited teachers) under the guidance of Rinpoche
