RATES FOR SPONSORSHIP Sponsorship of students at Shree Mangal Dvip Boarding School (SMD) Both girls and boys need sponsorship. Very few families from this region can afford to send their children to school but they value education and come to SMD and SMD Branch School for Young Monks hoping to enroll their children and to find financial assistance. Sponsorship will provide that assistance. • Sponsorship for a boarding student ....$820/year • Sponsorship for a day student ...........$370 /year ________________________________________________ In addition to the main monastery seat in Boudhanath, Nepal, Thrangu Rinpoche has the monastery at Namo Buddha, the three year retreat near Bhaktapur, and Vajra Vidya Institute in Sarnath, India. The monks are mobile between locations depending on their tasks and the yearly schedule. At the Shedra (monastic college) monks study part of the year in India and some of the year in Nepal. At the Namo Buddha location there is a branch of the Shree Mangal Dvip School for the young, grade-school-aged monks. (SMDBS) There are three categories of sponsorship for monks: • Basic sponsorship for a monk ................$240 / year • Sponsorship for a Branch School monk....$620 / year • Sponsorship for a Shedra Monk .............$600 / year ________________________________________________ Sponsorship of Nuns at Thrangu Tara Abbey • Sponsorship for a nun at SMD ........ $480 / year Partial sponsorship If
a full sponsorship is not within your budget, you may choose to do a
partial sponsorship. We will match your chosen contribution with the
partial payments of others until we cover the full amount. Or you may decide with other friends or family to share a full sponsorship.

General Donations to the Annual Fund Sponsorship only covers part of the cost of providing the many programs developed by Thrangu Rinpoche. We greatly depend on donations that are not directed to any particular student, monk, or nun but for the fund in general. These donations will be appropriated according to the need. Sometimes a sponsor forgets or can no longer pay so we need to be able to cover the costs. (We cannot just drop a student out of the school or monasteries once they have begun!) General funds may also provide new uniforms, socks and shoes, school supplies, a bed or towels. If sent for the nuns or monks, it may provide more texts or socks and sweaters. Basically, we need to be able to provide whatever is necessary as the need arises. Administration costs of the Canadian foundation (VVF) are kept below 4%, but we still need funds for newsletter mailing, website management, office supplies, and accounting. PLEASE consider supporting the Foundation so we can keep operating to help in Nepal. ____________________________________________ Donations for Specific Projects Donations
may be made on an occasional or regular basis to any of Thrangu
Rinpoche's projects. Funds are accrued separately for all projects and
dispersed accordingly. Donations can be given and earmarked specifically
